Our selection of Ethiopian arabica coffee beans have a very distinctive flavour, grown in the highlands of Ethiopia where coffees grow more slowly and therefore have more time to absorb nutrients and develop more robust flavours based on the local climate and soil conditions.
The coffee plant - Coffea Arabica is know to originate in Ethiopia and has been grown for dozens of centuries. According to the legend, a the 9th-century a goatherder Kaldi, discovered the coffee plant while realising it had an energizing effect on his flock after seeing them eat the cherries. This legend did not appear in writing until 1671. The plant is now grown in various parts of the world. Ethiopian beans are an important export product, which accounts for around 3% of the global coffee market.
